The future of BeOS is largely in the hands of the Haiku OS developers. Little or no development has come from the other projects. On the other hand Haiku has kept going quite steadily, and are now supported by Google and others.
In it's current state Haiku is only usable has a hobby OS, but is quite steady as such. Haiku can run Firefox and several other popular Open Source applications, so it might in a useable state in just a few years from now.
